Additional Information
Player/Team Registration Options
Which option is right for you?
-
Individual Registration: You’re a player without a team or prefer to join a new one.
-
Registered Team: You’re forming a new team and want to pay the full team fee upfront.
-
Pre-Formed Team: You’re a returning team that wants to stay together.
Individual Registration – This option is open to any player who wants to play basketball with ASA. Players who are new to the league, or who prefer not to return to a previous team, may register as an individual in “draft” status. ASA will place the player on a team with available openings or create a new team as needed.
Registered Team – This option allows a coach to pay the predetermined team fee in full at the time of registration. Once the coach has successfully completed a criminal background check, they will receive a team code and discount code to distribute to their players. Each player must then register with ASA (at no cost) and be officially added to the team roster.
-
A minimum of seven players is required to lock the roster, at which point no additional players will be added.
-
Teams with fewer than seven players may have additional players assigned.
-
The maximum roster size is 10.
-
The Board reserves the right to move registered teams up a league for competitive balance.
-
Registered teams may only add players through Week 2 of the season, regardless of roster size or injury.
Pre-Formed Team – This option is for returning teams that wish to remain together from a previous season. The Head Coach must register first and will receive a team invitation code to distribute to their players. Each player will register individually using the code and pay their own fee.
-
Teams with fewer than 10 players may have additional players assigned.
-
The maximum roster size is 10.
Pre-Draft Workouts
All new and returning players entering the draft may be asked to attend a short, one-hour skills workout. These sessions help the league create fair and balanced teams across all grades (2nd–Middle School), so every player has a chance to compete and grow.
How It Works:
-
Players are evaluated on skills during the workout.
-
Teams are drafted to balance talent and ability.
-
Assignments are made by the League Director.
